The Cathedral are delighted to welcome Sophie Artemis, a local artist, to lead art workshops for children in our beautiful building. Each session will focus on a different aspect of art in response to the cathedral, creating something that attendees can take away with them. Children in Reception to Year 2 will create a colourful collage; Year 3 to Year 6 pupils will create little books; and children and adults from 11 plus will have the opportunity to be guided in sketching aspects of the Cathedral under Sophie’s expert guidance. Further details are included on our website. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
Make a beautiful tunnel book using one sheet of paper. This ingenious book structure allows you to create a miniature world that folds flat and then stretches out to reveal hidden words and images. Once you have understood the basic structure, you can cut shapes out of each section to shift how the book is viewed. If there is time, we will make a simple slip case to house your book.
17 artists will be showing their books, prints and illustrations in this London Society of Bookbinders showcase of artist books. Prices start at £10 and entry is free.
Ian Farmer and Susie Wilson co-curated this exhibition of 80 books from 35 artists on the theme of pattern celebrated in book form. Books on show (all tunnel books in the thimble theatre series) Winter Solace, A Matter of Life & Death, Always it’s Spring and A Summer Dream £25 each.

Bristol Art Book Event
We’re delighted to bring the Bristol Artists Book Event back to Arnolfini. Due to ongoing Covid restrictions, it won’t be quite the same sort of big, crowded book fair that we’re used to but we are still able to bring you work by over 160 book artists from around the world, online.
Artist book-films for BABE
Bristol Artist’s Book Event at Arnolfini presents works by over 160 book artists and small publishers from around the world, online over the weekend.
Ranging from recorded talks from Australia to Mexico about international collections and exhibitions, through documentation of printing processes, to book-based performances and experimental short films, this is an amazing set of creative responses to what ‘digitising a book’, or ‘online reading’ might mean.
We have submissions of books and videos from artists and publishers in Australia, Argentina, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, UK & Ireland and the USA.
The films are available to view here and include work by Sophie Artemis. Search ‘Sophie Artemis’ for a film of ‘Falling in Love’ a scenographic book.
